Does anyone have any insight on obtaining your MPH in the states, leading to subsequent acceptance into that school twhoch you completed your MPH ?
If this is true - with a 3.7 and 24 MCAT any reccomendations on grad schools in the northeast?
Thanks

You will find out that doing an MPH in the states or Masters/PHD will NOT increase your chances of acceptance to a stateside school. One of the reasons is that U.S. schools value Undergrad G.P.A. and MCAT over anything, and I mean anything. I bet they would bust your balls even if you found the cure to cancer but had an undergrad gpa less than 3.3
Instead, you could try and pad you application with higher MCAT or taking extra science classes in hopes of increasing your stats. But in the end you have to ask yourself how badly you want SGU. In the grand scheme of things an extra 38k is not going to put a serious dent in your finances. If you’re willing to drop 200k I doubt 38k extra is going to kill you. (If it is then I stand corrected)
I have applied for MPH for a sure chance to get into SGU med because of the whole I dug in my undergrad is really insurmountable, but SGU is giving me the chance to prove myself and I am going to do that. Plus I think of it this way, it will give me a year to get use to the environment and hopefully make it less stressful for when I begin my medical studies.

The MPH is a very expensive way to get into medical school. While I think SGU is probably the best carib school in absolute terms, I seriously doubt that it is the best value. In particular, I find it hard to believe that an MD from SGU is worth 160k more than one from Saba.[/quote]
I was accepted to all three and really wanted to attend SGU, but this price difference is pretty substancial is the difference in education THAT much ???

i have been accepted into sgu's mph program in order to go onto their medical school. i was also accepted into auc and ross and have choosen to take the mph route at sgu. i feel that even though this is much more expensive, in the long run i will benefit. i will be able to graduate from a good school with good clinical rotations in order to help me get good residencies. i will also be able to practice in every state which is not available through auc and ross. i just feel that this is the best choice for me. i think it is different for every person and their situation. if there is anybody else who is going for mph feel free to pm me...i would like to talk to them before we all leave for the island. also if anybody has any questions about it feel free to pm me.
