    Scholarships

My friend said he got a pretty good scholarship from sgu (40K for 4 years)
I'm only applying for the "Legacy of Excellence" one.

Has anyone else applied for this or any others?
    how much did you get?
how long did it take for the school to get back to you?

I got a Bourne scholarship for 9K over 4 years. I applied for all of them though. You have nothing to lose. I got word of the scholarship before i had to pay 1st term tuition. You have to keep >3.0 GPA for the Legacy one, right?

The packet says that the Bourne is Need Based, however it also asks for your parents financial info. Now, I'm on my own, getting no assistance from my parents, but I fear since they ask for the info there's no chance of that scholarship being awarded to a student whose parents income is over 50k.

    Am I wrong?

I'm no rich kid, but my parents aren't poor either and i got it. Yeah it sucks that you have to submit your parents' income info. This applys apparently for those who have a family of their own too, or even if you haven't seen your father since you were 5. Just one of the wacky things that SGU does. Heck, i even applied for the ethnic-group based scholarships. Just go for it. You have nothing to lose.
