Official ACCEPTED Thread
Hey everyone, I thought we should start up a thread for those who have already been accepted and had questions about things to do from now until August in terms of getting prepared, etc. It would also give us a chance to get better accquainted. So if you've already been accepted check in. For starters, here's a question to those accepted: When are you sending your physical/health apps and everything else that seems to be coming in at different times?

accepted
i was accepted for the aug term. I am definately going to SGU. So far i have only sent in my deposit. I am just waiting to figure out a way to get a physcial done, since i am not insured. I gotta wait 90 days, damn new job. I am working on my essays for scholarships.
As far as when to send the stuff, i would say the sooner the better, why wait and have the headaches about it. Take some time out, and get it done and enjoy the freedom. |

advice...
One advice I could give you incoming class is to take care of paperwork asap especially financial aid related things. I ran into problems each term with financial aid even though I turned in my paperwork as soon as I got it. ALso, bring down enough travelers checks to last you for a good month or so even if you are counting on student loans. My loan check didnt get to me(I mean the extra cash I requested for my spending there not my tuition check!) until 6 weeks after I started. If I didnt have that extra money that I brought down I would have been in deep trouble.
Another thing is the phone company and things of that nature can be very frustrating and crazy. Things work a little bit different down there. People are more laid back and easy going and they really wont care that you have been waiting forever. Be aggressive but also have patience. One more thing...start your hep shots now. By the time you get back for next summer you will have finished the 3 shot series and you can take a titer at home and then take all that info down to st. vincents so you wont have to do your bloodwork down there. The school wouldnt give us our clinical rotations spots until my entire class had their titers done. SO they have a mass session and its chaos. Nimitt 3rd year |

help...maybe!
Rohith,
The 4 days or so before the first day of class is spent doing various tours around the island and such as well as registering for class. What you could do is take the test and then come the next day. You might end up having to do registration the first day of class and might be charged for late registration. You will miss the tours (which if you really wanted you could go the next term when the next entering class comes!) and will feel a little rushed into starting the term but you can easily survive without having to be there early. IF you really need to take the test then do it and leave the next day. You will get plenty of opportunities to meet the rest of your class the next couple of weekends because every organization will end up throwing a party for the new incoming class. Hope that was the help you were looking for! Nimitt 3rd year |

Hey Kevin, its great to hear that you got in. I know you were waiting anxiously. CONGRATS! Its always good to see another Bruin get in.
A general question for everyone: When are you all getting to SGU in August? Also, are you buying scrubs or a lab coat for anatomy lab? Lastly, does SGU provide us with our white coats for the white coat ceremony or do we need to buy them? |

coats...
SGU provides the coats for the ceremony and then you put it in your closet until vinnies!
Scrubs are better for anatomy so your cloths wont smell like the lab! Congrats on all that got in! Its definitely an experience you will remember from the lights turning off once in awhile possible the week of exams (its not that bad so dont get all worked up about it!) to all the parties.
