flights

can you tell me what dates you used? I need to fly from NYC and the lowest rate that I got (with the code given in the orientation handout) was $860.
Did you get your flight through AA?Is this flight leaving from JFK or EWR?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

air fare costs

Toronto to Grenada $1333 CDN (which corresponds to approximately $890 US) leaving on August 12th, coming back December 18 flying American Airlines. Used St. George's code. Best price in town.

Flight costs and other stuff

I booked with AA today and from Indy to grenada it is going to cost me $775 (Aug. 13-Dec. 15). Apparently thats cheaper than flying out of chicago, although i'm going through chicago anyway.(?) That starfile # is definitly worth it. BUT YOU NEED TO BOOK SOON! Flight #5168 into Grenada from San Juan on Aug. 13th is almost full and flight #5170 is half full (according to the AA website.) Flights out of Grenada on December 14th are ALL FULL (according to the AA ticket agent.)

Here's some more info i found out from AA today:
Miami to GND $578.80 ($951-$961 w/o SGU rate)
New York to GND $646.30 ($860-$940 w/o SGU rate)

I guess if i could withstand being without my carry-on in Chile for 2 weeks, i can stand to be without my luggage for a few days in Grenada.

You'll notice i'm flying out before the promotion committee meets in december, although we're advised not to. Thats due to some advice i received from previous students on the old network54 forum (anyone here remember that?). They said to only stay that extra week if you are concerned about not passing. And if for some reason i need to stay, i can shell out $100 to change my flight.

To follow Rohith's lead, my name is Nick Peters. I was born in and have lived in Indianapolis my whole life (except for the 4 years i was in college.) I have a ** in health sciences from Purdue U. and will have another ** in Clinical Lab Science from Indiana U. in about 5 weeks. I won't go into how i came to apply and eventually accepted to SGU, because it really doesn't matter. I've done mission work in Ecuador, St. Martin, Georgia, and Kentucky. I volunteered in an ER for 2.5 years before being hired on there. I now work in another hospital's lab, in the chemistry department and will soon start volunteering at a children's hospital. I don't want to bore you any longer, so if you want to know more, check out my webpage on my profile. I went to the open house in chicago on monday and got alot out of it. I can't wait to meet everyone.

flights & etc.

One interesting thing I learnt today from calling the airline I'm flying down on, Air Jamacia, is to make sure you know what type of plane you're going down on, it makes a difference in the weight limit of your luggage. I'm lucky, I'm taking a direct flight, so it's a 757 all the way, so I can have 2 bags checked that weigh 70lbs. each, but some of the smaller planes only allow a total weight of 70lbs. that's only 45lbs. each. My ticket cost a little more than others have been talking about, but for me, it's worth $100 extra to bring what I need down with me and not be searching for it for a week because it got left behind somewhere, just a personal preference though.

To follow suit on me: I'm going to vet school at SGU, unlike most of you who seem to be med students. I've been living in the smallest town, in the smallest county, in the smallest state my entire life, and only went to college 20minutes away though I did live there, but this is still a huge move for me. I only completed 2.5 years of undergrad, so I'm also a little younger, but I got all my course work in, so I figured, why wait, my grades weren't good enough for US vet schools, so this works for me. I
I can't wait to meet you all in August!

flights

jizzack,

Mine out of NYC cost about $1,000. It has really bad departure and arrival times in and out of NYC though, it leaves at 7am and returns in Dec. at 11pm, I live about a 3.5 hour drive, so I changed my ticket. For the same cost I'm flying out of RI to Phily, the times are much better, but the weight alotments are still the same. If you need more info, you can e-mail me, desertdream2@yahoo.com

air jamaica

thnx for the info. I was hoping maybe there is some sorta discount for SGU students with Air Jamaica, however that is not the case. But it still is easier to fly nonstop for about 5 hrs.
