Thread: SGU PostBacc Program

Because the PostBacc Program at SGU is so new, there is not much information regarding student profiles/stats, acceptance rates, overall satisfaction, courses, linkage rates, preparedness for MD program, etc.

I thought having its own thread might help.

I heard within two weeks that they had my application. Then it was about a month for my interview and then another month to hear if I was accepted. My application was submitted right when the review comittee went on vacation though, they were out for three weeks. I have heard some knew they were in, in as little as three weeks from the time they applied. I am sure it depends if your application stands out and if the comittee is in. I asked how many people were coming in August and they didn't know so I assume their are still seats open.

Just out of curiosity when did you apply?

Hey Neuro..i applied sometime late in March. Did the interview at the beginning of April and got acceptance response over 2 weeks ago.

So also applied recently, have my interview Friday. Does anyone have any more information on financial aid for the postbacc program. I think thats going to make or break me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sallie Mae is the only option. If you have dependents going with you, you will need to do a dependant care form. They will require a cosigner. There are no other options for the post-bac.

I was accepted for August postbacc. Before I send the payment in I was planning on going down to visit. Has anyone seen the campus before jumping in?
How many other postbacc folks are there on here?

Anyone actually check out the campus yet? I am definitely headed down for August. So if you could give me any idea of what it's actually like I would really appreciate it! As for financial aid stuff. I am not going this route, but I know some banks (ex- Wells Fargo) have a specific loan strictly med and nursing students. Not sure if it applies for a Post-Bacc program but it might be worth a shot? Anyone get word on roommates or dorms yet?
