Thread: Sgu 2012

Hi guys

I was admitted to SABA this fall but I decide to steer away from it. (Obvious it is not as good as I thought)

Just a quick question:
If I apply to SGU, I can only make it Jan 2012. Does that put off my match one year later? In 2016 i guess?

Is there any possibility i can match in 2015??

No you can't start residency in 2015 if you start in 2012. Medical school takes 4 years to complete. So, if you start in January 2012 then you finish in december 2015 and start residency in summer 2016.

It may be a good idea if you don't care about waiting a little bit to start residency. If you start in Jan '12, you would graduate Dec '15. This means that you would go for the residency match in July 2016, and I heard that this time gap is really good for a little break and to study for Step 2... I decided to start in Jan because I want to do a lot of detailed research about residencies during that time so that I can pick the right one for me.

You can technically finish in 3.5 years, but I haven't heard of anyone at SGU doing it (more AUC and Ross bc they have the trimesters.) You can technically finish in Dec of 2015, but most likely it will be more like March to April of 2016 bc of taking off time for Step 2 and interviewing.
