I got 224 out 283. It is a C. To get a B, I need 224.5.
Will Dr. Ross will give me that 0.5???

IMO a regrade of the course is your only legal choice here. other than that, there are horror stories like this all the time, and I'm sorry that you're going through this right now, but as the syllabus says talking to them won't help, especially not to Dr. R. If I were you, I would book an appointment and tell her personally you'd like a regrade.... who knows? maybe!!!

Out of curiosity, when you just barely make it over the cutoff for a higher grade, do you go to the department and ask them to give you a lower grade because you only barely got it?

That's something that legitimately confused me about people who felt inclined to beg for the extra point that would put them over the top. I've missed the grade by small margins before, but I've also gotten away with the grade by small margins too. It all evens out in the end. That's the price of living on the edge.

in a word....nope (0.1 and didn't get it...)

lesson learned...alsways challange a question if you think it was wrong...because it literally could be the difference between an A and a B!

haha sorry I am not laughing at you but some how I remember I was .04 away from the next letter grade Because in micro you know how you have those IGE points, well yeah I got like a fraction of something which made me .04 away at the end. So no..she wont give you anything. I will not comment on her and the way she is...but I am sure most of us know. She doesnt care and will probably put you down because it helps her sleep at night. God be with her too..

And she is not disliked for NOT giving extra points at the end(because I guess I kinda understand it...then everyone will want extra points)...she is just nasty to A LOT of students.

All the bashing here is unwarranted. I needed help from her this term, and she was more than willing to assist me. She didn't grab my hand and console me, but she did what was needed to make me feel like I got the support I needed. Maybe people try to give a little respect to get a little back in return.

Dr Q or Dr L would not have given you the point either. Since I did an MSc in Micro there I got to see a different side to all of them. I liked them all. There were always students coming in that were so close to the next grade and wanted the extra points. You have to realize where would they draw the line. If none student is a half a point away and they give it to them what about the one who is 1 point away? There is only 0.5 between the 2 students.
