Dual residencies, any success at attaining them?

I am interested in doing a dual residency, probably in family med/ER.
Has anyone from SGU been successful at getting into them? I do know that some dual residencies seemed to be reserved for U.S. med school grads, and some programs even reserve their slots for allopathic grads only so DO school grads cannot get them.

Dual residencies -- anyone at SGU have success in these programs?

For those of you who are contemplating, or have tried and failed, or tried and succeeded in getting into a dual residency back in the U.S., I am curious what your experiences have been. I am interested in a combined dual residency such as Family Med/ER or IM/ER. Ultimately, I want to practice rural medicine, both domestically and internationally (probably in conjunction with PAHO or WHO). In those places in which I am interested in working, I would probably be the only health care provider of any sort in the area, so I want to be able to handle not only general care but emergencies if they come up.
I suppose I can also do FM with an ER fellowship or surgery fellowship.

    Thanks in advance.

I believe there is only one FM/EM residency in the country, located in Delaware, so that is kind of a long shot.

There are about ten IM/EM residencies, (that is not including the osteopathic IM/EM residencies), as well as a handful of PED/EM residencies.

While I am not up to speed on whether SGU grads have matched into these combined specialties, I do know that they placed two into Triple Board residencies this year (that's Pediatrics+Psychiatry+Child/Adolescent Psychiatry). That's a pretty significant number considering that there are fewer than 20 Triple Board positions available each year.

I would think that your stated career goals could be managed with combined training, or even with straight FM or EM (with or without fellowship). For the international aspect, note also that there is an International EM fellowship available, as well. Some of them look pretty cool. Yale's IEM fellowship pays for you to get a master's degree at LSHTM (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) during your fellowship.

you can always look at the SGU match lists located on the SGU website to see where recent grads have matched.
