Dual residencies -- anyone at SGU have success in these programs?
For those of you who are contemplating, or have tried and failed, or tried and succeeded in getting into a dual residency back in the U.S., I am curious what your experiences have been. I am interested in a combined dual residency such as Family Med/ER or IM/ER. Ultimately, I want to practice rural medicine, both domestically and internationally (probably in conjunction with PAHO or WHO). In those places in which I am interested in working, I would probably be the only health care provider of any sort in the area, so I want to be able to handle not only general care but emergencies if they come up.
I suppose I can also do FM with an ER fellowship or surgery fellowship.
Thanks in advance.
