Questions

I'll do that kingkong, I'll try to post the answers I get on here as soon as I can. If anyone wants me to ask any specific questions post them on here and I will check it before I call. Hopefully we can get some answers that might ease our anxiety a bit.

contacted the financial aid freshman counselor

she said that they will be sending the financial aid packets at the end of this month. didn't sound like they were delaying the process at all.

haven't spoken with anyone about classes though.

Freshman advice- what to bring etc

Hey- i just got an email from a recent sgu med alumnus
hopefully this can help fellow jan 05 freshman...

just off the top of my head... you need flashlights,
batteries, alarm clocks that run on batteries (not the
plug in kinds). Frankly, you can buy most of the stuff
that you need, like pillows, school supplies, etc, etc
there, but it does cost more. You can ship a bunch of
stuff to yourself via amerijet (not too expensive).
You should buy a chungs anatomy (actually most of the
BRS review book series books are a great investment).
dont bring too many fancy clothes, as you will be
lounding around in beach clothes for most of the time.
travelers checks are the safest and best way to bring
some cash over to tide you over.

Classes in Jan

The goal is to have everyone back in Grenada for the January term. However, it will depend on whether the country is ready to support the students. Also, it is projected that the January term will start on time.

With regards to January admissions, I assume that they will continue to admit students until the class is full. However, there may be less seats available due to some current first term students electing to take a leave of absence and starting first term again in January.

January In Grenada

The associate Dean of Enrollment told me that classes in January would resume in Grenada. For now, the med students are up here in Long Island, NY to complete the rest of the term. =)

Questions answered by Student Task Force

Hello everyone, I just spoke to Jason at the Student Task Force Hotline and asked him questions about the students who will be entering in January. He said that everything should be just as it was already planned. Everything for January should be exactly the same; we will be starting on time in Grenada. He said the clean up efforts are going great and things should resume as usual in January. I also asked him if parents were being advised not to come down in January and he said no, that parents were still welcome to come. I just wanted to let everyone know what I found out, I hope this makes some of you feel better.

same information

i've gotten the same information--- classes resuming in the the US this fall, and everything back to normal in grenada by january.

"We will be resuming classes and welcoming the new class in January 2005 in Grenada. The current med and vet students will finish this fall term at locations in the US where the entire term of students, staff and faculty will be placed to finish the term. The students will not have any interruption in their studies (it may require Saturday and evening classes). We are relocating classes due to the damage suffered by the infrastructure on the island of Grenada, they would not be ready to welcome students back by next week when we resume classes in the states. The campus suffered damage, but mostly blown out windows, roof tiles and water damage, and the repair has already started.

I will be in the office Monday and will be happy to speak to you at any time as the January dates approach.

Thank you,

MOd note: edited for personal contact infomation
