    Bicylcle Shops in Grenada

I am term 2 and living off campus, within walking distance but I prefer to bike. Yes, I know the disclaimers and I commuted on bike in Boston for several years and trust me it is worse than getting to campus from True Blue/Calliste area.
I would bring my own bike but AA charges $100 to transport and really (each way), it's a $50 craigslist mountain bike so I figure I'll just get one on the island and then sell it when I leave.

Anyway, I read there is a bike store near Grand Anse but haven't been able to confirm this. I saw some bikes posted on SGU post, but does anyone know if bikes can be bought in Grenada and if so what the price range is? Any stores around?

    Thanks!

I don't think bicycle technology has made it to Grenada. They're not that advanced yet.

    Actually, I found a place:

    Green's Bicycle Shop - Sales
    H.A. Blaize Street, St. George's
    Tel: 435 1089

Several people pointed me to this. Not sure if it's open as I called and got "this number disconnected" but that was over Skype from the states so who knows. Anyway it's on a relatively short street in town so should be easy to find.

If anybody is interested, send me a PM if you want to go find it next week!

According to the Yellow Pages there are two listed- The one you mentioned and Rhett Dopwell, 405-2473.

I know two students in my term who cycles back and forth to campus. The one I know personally purchased his bike here in Grenada. I don't know about the other student but often see her cycling to and from campus during last term.

You can get cheaper bikes at Courts and Ace. They will be Huffy-brand or similar quality. As someone who got his most recent bike for < 100 dollars with a 400 dollar lumber purchase (i.e., it is not a Gary Fischer), this is good enough for me.

If you decide to buy a bike down here, don't forget to bring a helmet from home.
