    According to the AAIMG

According to the AAIMG (American Association of International Medical Graduates), SGU tops the list of "Medical Schools Meeting Or Exceeding AAIMG Evaluation Criteria" with only 2 deficiences in the following evaluation criteria (there are over 70 criteria):

    Section IV a
The medical school is located in an environment that provides a reasonable degree of safety for the student and family members

    Section VII i
Scholarships on the basis of merit or need are available to qualified parties.

Can anyone address those two issues? What has SGU done towards improving those two deficiencies?

Regarding IVa, it seems from what I've gathered from these posts and what I've heard is that SGU is pretty safe with only petty crime being an issue. There are shuttles and even those bring people directly to the door after dark. Therefore, I'm curious as to why AAIMG lists this as a deficiency, especially since Section IV is titled "Student Concerns".

Just a thought: If the same evaluation criteria were applied across US/Canadian schools, would they all pass with a 100% rate?

    AAIMG

Well, the AAIMG is a bogus organization -- if you do a search on VMD this has been discussed before -- basically the president is someone that doesn't exist, has headquarters in NV that don't exist, and the website is hosted by some shady Russian company. While the site does offer some good advice in what to look for, the "site visits" and "deficincies" are all bogus.

    As for the listed "deficiencies:"

    1) SGU does offer quite a number of scholarships, both need and merit-based. Check with Fin Aid Services to find the complete list (or you will get it in your admissions packet)

    2) Grenada is a developing nation, and there is some small petty crimes of opportunity. (i.e. muggings) To my knowledge, no violent crimes have been reported (i.e. murder, rape, etc.) However, statistically speaking, it is safer than any of the large cities (i.e. NYC) in the US.

With respect, I dont think statistically speaking is valid, the crime reporting leaves alot to be desired down here. As discussed in previous threads, its in better interest for SGU to not make public the amount of crime down here especially against students.

That said, I'm not the least bit scared. Ill say it again, use common sense and you will be fine.

    aaimg

    hi docks
funny just last night i was thinking how long its been since someone rasied the aaimg flag. They are not an offical organization. Its like you setting up a group to evaluate, lets say, the legitmacy of, well, offshore schools. And you make up anything you want to say about them, put it on the net and call your self an organization. Note the .com address; the hotmail emails of the "president". tnoone can seem to comfirm that ****** moore exists (ive nto done the legwork) and his picture seems taken from a photograph frame. Note there is no phone number. note that they rarely answer emails and when then do (rarely students) they avoid answering the questions put to them that are legitimate. In short sgu will never make changes just because of commentary of the person who put up a web site and calls it aaimg. Anyway Im going to close this and link to the aaimg thread. You'll find lots of fun people there too!
