okay well i am currently attending pennsylvania college of technology, and will be graduating at the end of next summer (2010) with an associates degree in radiography. I then plan to continue and earn a bachelors degree in allied health sciences. Through my clinical experience the fact that i want to be a physician has been reinforced. I have always felt this way but was basically scared to try and scared to be in school for so long because obviously med school is not a cakewalk and does take alot of time until you have finished. My question is this, i dont yet have plans on earning the requirements to attend med school aka: organic chem, physics (requirements may be filled) and the biologies etc.... i was wondering about the pre med program at SGU, once you complete the requirements, if you do well will it be easier to be accepted into the actual medical school at SGU... any help would be appreciated i am honestly lost, i have no idea if i should just go to school and get those required courses in the us or try to go offshore...please help!

The Caribbean should always be your last option for medical school. Get your pre-meds reqs done in the US. Work your tail off to ace the courses and aim for a 30+ on the MCAT. If you can't get the pre-reqs done before you finish your degree, there are plenty of post-baccalaureate programs in the US that will help you get the necessary coursework.

SGU's pre-med program carries no weight in the US...so think very carefully about the path you wish to pursue.

i think you should wait and see what Chairman Maobama plans to do with health care before you make any big commitments. Depending on how things go it might be in your bet interest to stay away from med school all together.

It won't change people from getting sick. Actually the worse the economy the more sick people get. Some people forget the fact that going into medicine is not for money. At least I hope that is not someone's first priority... that will make for one unhappy life. Oh and some people have to lay off the FOX NEWS.

The money is actually not that good when you factor in the long hours, huge debt, stress and litigation......

E.G. IM @ 80/week on ~170K, not great really....
