Need some advice...
Our members don't see this ad.
So I just found out today that I was accepted into the KBTGSP in the UK for August 2009. I originally applied for Grenada, however the class is completely full at this time. I have the option of being put on a prioritized wait list for the August class, or being considered for the January class as well. I just wanted to know what people in similar situations have done (or would do) if faced with this decision. I think going to the UK for a year would be incredible, however Stafford Loans are not given to students in the UK program. Has anyone else found out from SGU lately? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Hey there...congrats on your admission...
Im not in med school yet, but I can tell you that going to the UK will be a good experience for sure. But if you plan on practicing in California, then you cannot simply because they dont recognize the UK program....if you can overcome that than I'd go for it....dont put money inbetween yourself in such a great oppurtunity... BTW if you dont mind, can you share your stats? Or you can PM me? I only ask because I am keenly interested myself to go down your route... Thanks a lot and good luck to you in the future... |

I agree! I'd also recommend waiting. Why take the chance and limit the places where you can practice? Funding also is an important consideration. It's quite a bit of money and not being able to use stafford loans for that year makes it all that much more unpleasant.
They told me the same thing last year when I applied (that the class was full and I was accepted to the GSP) and I told them I wanted to be put on their priority waitlist. They accepted me like a week later in the normal Grenada program. It's just speculation on my part but I think they were/are just trying to fill their new UK program since they accepted me awfully quickly after I turned them down for GSP. |

I was accepted with a 3.8 and a 26 MCAT this fall, so keep the faith Dr. J and hopefully we will see you on the rock
