Did any one get in with MCAT score of 23

    Hi Guys,

Could those of you who got in with a MCAT of 23 and a GPA of >3.6 please respond. I am just looking to see how many people get in with stats like this (yes those are my stats). Are my chances better for the January class?

    Thanks in advance!!!

its possible to get in with a 23 on mcat....my friend got in with a 23 and the first time she had 21...and a gpa around 3.6..

she also applied in november for august seating and didn't have any issues.

Hey! I got in for Jan 08' with a 23M and a 3.2 gpa. They never mentioned FOM to me but i was accepted as an AEP which you'll notice half of your class will probably be in. I dont think a 23 will harm your chances but it may now considering they have raised the bar a little.

You should get in just fine with those stats.

People like to say that the Jan class is easier, but it's all really heresay... I don't know that has ever been validified.

I got in Jan '05 with:

    25R
    BSgpa (3.0cum, 3.0sci)
    MSgpa (3.5cum, comp sci degree)

Class sizes are bigger now than they were then so I think you should be fine.

If you're not in a hurry, retaking the MCAT and reapplying everywhere in the states is always a good idea.

    Definitely

You should have a great shot at SGU.

I was also Jan 2005 - perhaps they let a lot of us with lower stats in because it was after the hurricane (j/k - was accepted before the hurricane hit)

I was 24Q, 3.4 from a not well known state school. No pubs, no significant experience or volunteers to speak of.

I was accepted without reservations (no AEP, No MPH, no nothing). I know people with significantly better statistics who had to go through AEP and MPH. A lot of it has to do with how you come off, how personable you are, and how you sell yourself as a potential student. You need to come off like a commodity, because you likely are one. You have 1 minor (very, very minor) short coming and you cover for it well.

I did the same thing when I applied for transfer, and I ended up getting into a U.S. school with stats worse than yours, and 1 point higher on the MCAT. Good luck, and show them why you're the quality candidate.

    Hobbes1845,

I noticed you stated that you later transfered to a US medical school, did you do it after 2 years? What was the process like?
