Thread: SGU SOM August 2009 Meet and Greet in NYC

Hi there,

I will be attending SGU this August. I was wondering how important it is to attend the meet and greet in New York this July. Have people found the meet and greets to be beneficial? Thanks for any comments

I would like to go...but as of right now it doesn't look like my work will allow me to.

(I'm also still holding out hope I get off the waitlist here)

It was kind of fun and I didn't have anything better to do. If you have a lot of questions about student life there are upper termers there to talk to, for residency there were a couple of PGY-1's and above, a handful of the administration is going to be in attendance as well. It's a good place to start making friends, which was probably the most beneficial aspect of the night.

I'd go help out... if I wasn't stuck on this rock for 3rd term =(

didn't find it very useful myself but it was a great excuse to visit NYC!!! lol

the only good thing that came of it was free suitcase tags and pens oh and cookies

awesome cookies...lol.

You certainly do not need to attend. I wouldn't rearrange your schedule for it. While it is nice to meet some of your fellow classmates and talk to MPH and other students familiar with the island you can probably get the same information from Facebook and this forum.
