I've just been told that I would be interviewed for the Jan 2010 session by Dr. J when he comes for the SGU Open House in New Delhi.
Has anyone been interviewed by him ??? Any tips on how to prepare??

i had my interview at RCSI MUB today....impressive campus, i must say. the interview itself was pretty relaxed, 35 mins. i hope the SGU one goes well too!

510 points had my interview @ hotel oberoi today....any1 interested in knowing what was asked by dr. j may PM me. it was a tension-free, lasted about an hour. dr j stated that he wud put in a positive feedback for me from his side. a review committee of 5 members wud review my application again and let me know of a decision within 15 days (mid may). it was a pleasant experience. please wish me luck !
Does this bring and end to the "interview with Dr.J thread".. just kidding.
RCSI is a great school, but I don't know about the M.East location. I can imagine it would be more difficult if you don't speak arabic, especially with pt contact. It is also difficult cause you are not doing rotations in the USA. Even the RCSI Dublin has that problem. They do decent rotations in Ireland, but they are not in North America, so their residency application suffers.
SGU is still the best option for those wanting to practice in the US. Not to mention cheaper than RCSI and living in Dublin.
Almost there
510 points I guess the mods can remove this post once i'm told whether ive been rejected or accepted (truly hope its the latter) ! yes, u are right. language can be a problem in bahrain, but i've learnt the university is planning an arabic language course which students can take to tackle the issue. the curriculum is very different though, its 5 yrs and the degree is MB BCh. They don't focus on the USMLE. Although cost of attending RCSI in bahrain is roughly 45-50K/Year, but it comes out equal to SGU as it is an additional year. My interviewers told me that they followed Dublin 100% in their methodology of teaching, and students can transfer to Ireland too.
Now towards the end of the interview, dr j said that he wud put in "positive response from his side" to the committee. i wonder what he could mean by that !?!![]()
510 points I think after the interview the interviewer will either recommend or not recommend you to the admissions committee. So if he said that he will put in a positive response that probably means hes going to recommend you. The rest is up to the admissions people to consider your whole application and either accept or reject you.
510 points fingers crossed !
There is a program now in Australia that is trying to set up rotations in the US for 3rd and 4th years. Don't know the name of the school but I think it's in Queensland. Either way it isn't official yet but it's something for others to keep an eye on; it's an established Aussie school, apparently, adding this program for US residents.
I finally have my long white coat, and it is stinky...
510 points yup...but i'm sure a new place will take time to establish itself. wtever said and done, sgu does have a sound track record of around 30 years (as was apparent @ the open house !). in my opinion, for international applicants (who cant make it to the US simply cuz of the "mcat") sgu should be one of the top choices.
