I've just been told that I would be interviewed for the Jan 2010 session by Dr. J when he comes for the SGU Open House in New Delhi.
Has anyone been interviewed by him ??? Any tips on how to prepare??

510 points @jiggin23
what all were u asked ??
Please don't be pushy!!! Nor lazy!!! If you would've googled your questions, a wealth of information would have appeared (see one example below). SGU provides all interviewers with a standard set of questions + the essay. So, by the time you are done with those, your interviewer will not have much time to get creative with the questions, but they usually be about something related to YOU PERSONALLY!

510 points a number of reasons why i wud never goto a medical school in india -
1. i am already 23, and starting medical school now would surely make me the eldest person in class. that would be difficult to live with (you would know if u were familiar with the way the system here works !)
2. places like manipal have around 150K $ as their tuition anyway. i consider paying 50K more and doing rotations in the US.
3. i ultimately want to practice medicine in the US, and indian med schools don't focus on the USMLE. inspite of the fact that the standard of education is high, their main focus isn't the boards.
4. i've already graduated from dental school, hence already studied most basic science courses. i initially wanted to make it to a US MD, but to be honest, preparing for the MCAT at this stage is a really hard ! the MCAT is probably a good way of judging a US student who is through with his premed, but it isn't neccessarily an apt way to judge foreign students.
from what i've read in the forums, inspite of a 400+ class size, SGU still is the harvard of the caribbean, hands down. so i really hope i can make it there !
10529 points my, my, aren't we uppity all of a sudden, MR-haven't-even-attended- a- day-of-medical-school...one the guy is from India, so he is not used to the way US schools handle med school interviews (and basically sgu handles interviews inthe same way) and isn't quite savvy to the interview feedback website(and when i was applying to sgu there was very little in way of feedback on that website for sgu...it was mostly US schools)

510 points are u supposed to carry something for the interview ? im pretty sure ur file wud have all the transcripts u sent...so basically just "suit up"...and take the dive ?!
Well it's certainly a good idea to carry a copy of your C.V, personal statement, etc in a folder with you just in case something is misplaced/not received by the interviewer. Some people (myself included) also carry a little notepad to jot down things quickly after the interview to help remember specific topics you want to refer to in your thank you letter.
Other than that just dress up professionaly and do your thing.
I finally have my long white coat, and it is stinky...
