usmle panic attacks

I am preliminarily placed in NJ where it requires a passing board score to start rotation. Rotations start at the end of May i believe.

question is, it possible to just start in NY if i don't pass.. (even though im preliminarily placed in Jersey) and retake the exam while in rotation? NY doesn't require passing scores to start i believe

I took my exam on april 16th and got my scores well in time to start in NJ.

If you don't pass you can't start rotations until you pass no matter where, unless you start rotations before you get your scores back and then if you fail you would finish that rotation and would not be able to start the next rotation until you got a passing score.

i took the exam on monday. it wasn't that bad. and it feels great to be done. if you've been sticking to your study plan, then you should be fine. and don't forget, we've been looking at this stuff for more than 2 years now.

the questions were really straight forward. for a lot of them, though, it was hard to be absolutely sure on my answer choice, but it just seemed like the best answer. a lot of the answer choices could be eliminated really easily. and there were not too many answer choices either... i'd say on average about 5 or 6.

good luck, and take a deep breath!

oh, and make sure to get a good night's sleep. no naps the day before, and skip that afternoon coffee the day before... so you can fall asleep.

as far as timing for each block and the stress of the exam, it wasn't bad. i was definitely not exhausted afterwards. the MCAT day was 100 times worse. most of the question stems were not very long. and there were some very interesting ethics questions on there, with some ridiculous answer choices that make you want to laugh. these are the questions where they present a particular patient scenario, and then they ask which response is most appropriate (quote questions). there'd be things on there like "well, if you don't take this medicine and follow your diet you are going to die a nast horrible death."..... WRONG ANSWER. most of them had an answer choice in there something along the lines of "tell me more" or some form of an open ended question.... probably the correct answer.

i not too sure what to make of my usmle world performance. sometimes getting in the 70s but sometimes getting like 48%..
should i be ok as long as the score on the block is about what the avg score is on that particular block?

I'm hoping that USMLE World is just out there to make the actual exam look easier. That thing is slapping me around even three days before the real deal.

i honestly feel like i don't know anything. i've done NBME #2 and as i was doing it i thought it was pretty tough actually..like as about as tough as usmle world. i don't know if others feel the same way about it and if the NBME is suppose to represent the real thing that scares me!
My score wasn't bad on the exam though i think i just got lucky with guessing..
