    Step 1 breakdown

    Advertisements

Hey guys I was wondering if someone could tell me the most important subjects for the step 1: I assume pathology and physio are up there, but I'm curious as to where anatomy, biochem and histo rank. Thanks!

they say all the subjects are equally distributed and i bet they're, when taking into account all the exams given around the world. However an individual exam can be skewed towards one subject over another, i had a lot of path, pathophys, and phys. almost no anatomy or pharm. Someone told me his exam was mostly anatomy and histology. I would say the high yeild subjects will be ethics, biostat, path, pathophys, pharm, micro, then clinical anatomy like dermatomes and bracheal plexus.

But in reality they can ask you anything and everything and they do. They asked me some obscure genetics q's on mine but there weren't too many of those. first aid for step1 has a good overfew of what you need to know but u'll need to add some detail to it.

WOW!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the heads up RJ... I'm still in my 2nd term so I'm just trying to think ahead, but I have to say, I totally thought they'd have the break down pretty similar for all tests like the MCAT had it...

nope it's the luck of the draw.. that doesn't mean that your exam might not be equal parts of all subjects but don't expect it to be.

if you look at falcons usmle prep there is a clear break down in days. Most subjects receive 3 days.. and some like path get 6 days i think. That is probably the best place to judge the content of the test.

    Eek...

Still figuring out how I'm going to squeeze in anatomy and histo. Right now I'm doing amyloidosis and cancer path.

    Awesome and thanks!

I like anatomy; I just don't have time to relearn all of it, and histo, extremely yuck. Tons of stuff, no interest, and not a lot of recall of it.
