So i did a search but didn't find what i am looking for. I also received mixed opinions on the subject from upper termers so here goes, do i need to buy book or will classnotes be enough for exams? Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Class notes should be enough; all the info looks like it's in them. However, for the written exams I almost exclusively used Bates and for the practicals I used the practical handouts so I never used the lecture powerpoints. I prefer to read texts more than the "list-type" layout of most powerpoint presentations so you may prefer the notes if you like that format.
I finally have my long white coat, and it is stinky...
521 points never even touched mine. even in clinicals, tho i heard it is useful to learn the good old fashioned physical exam and not relying on techs and other toys US has..it is just too heavy and big
I was told by my Internal medicine program director that i must master bates....
then we all had a good laugh about it.
but in all seriousness bates is a great book i have read it once through and have used it a few times to look things up. we also used it a couple of times in the clinic to look up exams. it has great pics in it as well. I think every MD should have one on their bookshelf.

510 points its lame... at least for 4/5/6th term. dont know about clinicals...
510 points We used the Bates Book a lot while practicing for the CPD practical. Every tutor teaches the procedures differently...sometimes significantly differently. We'd use the book to settle debates.
