SGU Aug. 2009 vs. AUC Jan. 2009.

Our members don't see this ad.
I have been accepted to SGU for August 2009 and I have been accepted to AUC for January 2009. I am currently unemployed and doing nothing so I am leaning towards AUC even though I prefer SGU. Any advice?

if you prefer SGU then go to SGU, you can always get a job or start studying anatomy or biochemistry. If you don't want to waste any time go to AUC both are about equal.

flip a coin if you can't decide.

AUC has a much nicer island.

SGU probably has a touch better reputation (not that it matters too much)

If I had to do it again...heck, I dunno. Probably AUC (cheaper) and better island. Med School is what you make of it.

Did you apply to SGU for January 2009?

I'd go to AUC. It's on par with SGU and the tuition is cheaper. Plus, it's on a better and more Westernized island.

I'd say SGU but that's really up to you. I'm actually making the same decision regarding SGU, Ross and AUC at the moment for August 2009. However, based upon what I have read regarding the three schools, it seems that SGU might be the top of all three choices and if otherwise, on par with Ross University. I don't know much about AUC but based on my experiance with AUC, it seems as if they're not getting enough students since out of three schools, AUC has been the most annoying in recruiting me. Also, they didn't interview me. So, I'm guessing that their standards on admission aren't as competitive like SGU or Ross. My decision on Ross is based upon a relative's experiance at Ross who actually graduated about 2-3 years ago. Apparently, it wasn't that great of an experiance and again I think that SGU's admissions standards might be slightly higher than Ross if not on par. In regards to tuition, medical school itself is expensive so I didn't make any decisions on basis but I guess what you pay for is what you get...who knows...lol.

they all recruit and pander a bit..just for s and giggles try telling sgu that you chose auc, you'll get the hard sell just like if you tell auc your going to sgu...hehe

and auc only interviews borderline canditates. people that are above the avg do not get interviewed unless there is a red falg on the record or they get denied. i think auc should interview everyone. there was apilot program last year to make that happen but i don't know what happened

having said that.having been accepted to all three i can tell you the interviews at ross and sgu were less interview and more sales pictches with videos and brocures and all...felt like one of those codp sales with free disney tieckets..

I'm not bashing AUC but that's how I made my decision. I actually liked AUC out of the three originally. I visit St. Maarten at least 5 times a year (I cruise alot) and I've traveled to all of these islands. St. Maarten is one of the best islands in the caribbean and I even have family and friends there (because of my many visits). But I felt that I'm goign to medical school not for the island but for what I percieve is strong in academics. I'm sure that AUC is still a good school (that's why I applied).

My interview at SGU wasn't much of a sales pitch like you mentioned though. Maybe with other interviewers. I'd have to agree with that being in terms of Ross but my interview was really straightforward and my interviewer didn't really ask or inform me of SGU.

videos and brochures? sales pitches? i know you're an AUC student but you don't need to make up stuff up to back up your school...did all 3 interviews as well and neither SGU nor ross presented any 'brochures' and 'videos'..and haven't heard from anyone that had that experiene

SGU does not need to 'sell' anything...they have a hard enough time keeping up with their ever increasing applicants...

speaking up interview Experiences, at my AUC interview, the guy said, 'well...your stats are well above our average so i won't grill you much...' instead we had lunch and talked bout movies...quite interesting

Try telling an SGU admissions counselor/representative that you are selecting AUC over SGU, and I'll bet you get the full-court press sales pitch. This pretty much applies to any of the big-4 programs.
