    Path and Pathophys?

Does one need to know/have taken a pathology course to understand pathophysiology?? Is pathology really a prereq to pathophys or can one get by with little path knowledge if they want to just kinda start to read up on pathophys materials??

I was thinking about getting a pathophys book and kinda following along in it while taking physio??

    I am currently a 2nd termer..

I was kinda a slacker in 1st term (still some how got straight **) and I think with this stuff being so easy for me it may lead me back into my slacker ways...

There is a little clinical snipits in both neuro and physio from time to time and I find them really interesting, so this crazy idea popped into my head of kinda going along with the pathophys book as we cover each organ system...?
well since A s is not censored like B s is, maybe you SHOULD focus on term TWO stuff and get staight As, THEN you can say it is sooo easy....

hehe, you're welcome...I defend b/c I was actually in your position....my undergrad was an honors degree in neuroscience and a minor in physiology so term 2 was a cake-walk for me compared to term 1....uh, HATED bchem (don't mind it now so much though)....I studied a lot of path and pathophys in term 2, also did DES neuro while I was taking the course (i.e. taught my classmates)....good luck with what ever you decide, you'll make the right decision! cheers

come on you can't BOAST of 1st term being easy and then say you got straight B s....if straight B s are your idea of excellance nrai, then you need to wake up! It is a decent goal...but no one will say that you are at the right side of the curve with that....it is a common enough practice to want to rely on previous knowledge, but in the end you do yourself a great disservice if you do...I was Anatomy and Physiology Professor before I went to sgu and I made a point to study as if this was all new material from me. Did my background help?? Hell yeah! but did i slack because of my background? no... but it sure made getting the A easier though....

no feelings hurt here, but you are taking on more than you can chew and you don't realize it....study what you need when you need to...soon enough you will be studying the thousands of pages of handouts you get in pathophys...

Rok, you've raised good points for sure....but I would let them figure out what works for them, think they've gotten enough "advice" from all of us to make up their own mind....I'm out
