Thread: Why did you choose SGU???

Hey everyone, I was just wondering why those of you who probably applied to all three schools (Ross, sgu, and auc) decided to go to SGU and no the others?? I have been accepted to all three and am trying to make the decision and could use your feedback. I have heard usually the schools are ranked, sgu first, then ross, then auc, but why is that? let me know your thoughts please. thanks

i am from NYC so i chose SGU for their reputation in the NY area and the abundance of clinical spots they have here

good thing i wasn't drinking anything when i read this....

1) I couldn't get into med school in the US.

2) Almost everyone I spoke to told me that SGU is the best med school outside the US for those who want to practice in the US. Clinicals are convenient too.

3) I was considering Ross because it's much cheaper, but after SGU provided me a scholarship, there wasn't much difference left in the costs. So SGU it was.

Ross and AUC are both having problems with clinicals for their students. Ross and AUC are fighting over spots at Wyckoff, a hospital that SGU pulled out of years ago because of overcrowding of rotations. SGU continues to sign quality hospitals for exclusive clinical contracts.

SGU offers clinical centers so that you don't have to keep moving.

All SGU rotations are greenbook so that you will be able to practice in all 50 states. The other schools offer rotations that are not ACGME or have dubious associations with hospitals (ex. JPH)

You can read all 3 schools forums and find the exact same thing- each says the other is having clinical problems etc...Ross is in a jungle- scratch it. SGU is on a horrible island. What do you have left? AUC.
