    SGU email activation/initiation

    Hi Guys,

Does anyone know when the first term people starting in August receive their sgu email activation/ initiation.

I will like to start using SGU mail for all my correspondence with the university so I can keep things organized.

    Thanks
    Vik

Do you have access to MySGU yet? It'll be the same username and password. The default is as follows:
Username: First three letters of last name, first three letter of first name. Note, if someone has previously had this combination, the last letter will become a digit. For example: John Smith -> smijoh ; John Smith II -> smijo2
Password: The default is your Social Security Number (or, if Canadian, your Social Insurance Number), with AMERICAN dashes. For example: 123-45-6789. (If Canadian, your number is normally 234 567 890, but will be 234-56-7890 for accessing SGU.)

    Hope that helps!

You can call the school and ask them this question. But keep in mind, that SGU e-mail is super inconvenient since it is slow, has limit and is not good at all. Most people forward their SGU mail to regular e-mails, like Yahoo or Gmail.

IIRC, for non-US students, the password is your SGU student ID number (not the random ID number).

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think they might be using this system for everyone now, both US and non-US alike (i.e., SS numbers are no longer used as passwords, at all).

I recommend either forwarding your SGU email, or better yet enabling POP3 access on it, and using a full-fledged email client (such as Microsoft Outlook or Mail.app). Both are much more stable and convenient than the web-browser client.
