    Transfer Interview: SUNY Upstate

Has anyone had any experience with interviewing at SUNY Upstate? This is for an MS3 spot.

    Thanks

Sorry, I don't want to give out my numbers just yet. I will give you ballparks:
    waitlisted at US school
    Jan class
    step 1: 99
    SGU GPA: >3.6
    MCAT: >30
    UG GPA: <3.5
    Average interview skills
    no major extracirriculars

Nothing too crazy as far as activities. Once the interviews are done, I will start a project sim to rumorsweretrue and will post everything, including my PS, grades, etc.

What does a Step 1:99 mean? You scored 99th percentile?

ugh!!! NOT %!!! (sorry its my pet peeve)

the step is reported as a 2 digit and a 3 digit score....for the 2 digit score 75 is always the pass score..the 3 digit score will be calibrated to this score for the pass score (ie its 185 now, but 2 years ago it was 183).

what these scores represent...well anyones guess is good, but the USMLE stopped reporting %tiles in 2000. Personally i think the 3 digit is more or less a raw score and the 2 digit shows how you compare to the people in your pool of test takers...so one year a 220 will correspond to a 90 and another year a 220 will correspond to a 92- the latter year it seems that it was harder to get a 220

the %tile can be calculated though since a mean and sd are given for the 3 digit score...
