510 points I read bits and pieces of it one time when I was at Barnes and Noble. It is nothing to brag about really. Most of the advice is common sense.
My biggest advice for third year is be on time, work hard, and be enthusiastic even if you hate a rotation... Good attitude will get you a long way... And yes do Read, Read, Read... if you want to shine on the wards.
yeah i was planing on doing all that, i was going to even show up early and pre-round by myself to be upto date on everything do you think that's allowed? I will read the FA for the wards in the weeks b4 rotations start, and I have FA's for all the cores too, as well as kaplan notes for step 2 to annotate as i go a long.. And I guess i'll have to buy harrisons and other books too but that won't be till later.

Hee hee this is funny. Ok, so pre-rounding is when the overnight intern on the floor and the day residents round on the patients to find out about new patients, what's happened with the old patients, and make plans for care. Then you run around doing a bunch of work (enacting those plans) until the attending shows up and then you have official rounds. So yes, if you want to get there EXTRA early and pre-pre-round, that would be fine but my advice is not go overboard, exhaust yourself, and then not get much learning done because you're sleepy all the time. In surgery we had to get there before the residents anyway to check labs so it really depends on the setting, the residents, and the attendings. You will get a feel for it all when you start. And I do recommend reading First Aid for the wards - you probably don't even need to buy it, just read it at B&N.
521 points i have heard that some students got ripped on their eval for being too much of a brown noser. so i guess everything in moderation.
well i wasn't planning on brown nosing.. just working extra hard.. i don't plan on washing attendings or residents cars or brining them coffee.. i plan on making sure i know as much as i can about the patients on the floor and work as hard as i can.
