Looks like update:

University of British Columbia - Medical Genetics

Medical Genetics is Good Life. My friend just finished his residency and he loves it. 9-5 days.

Well I haven't posted on this site in I think 3.5 years, but having seen one of my soon-to-be coworkers posting I thought I would make a note. In case it hasn't been mentioned already, you can look at SGU's match list by clicking on "alumni" on the home page, then click "academic accomplishments" and you can get a match list for this and the past many years. The list is sortable by any category, including specialty. So if you want to see, for example, everyone going into EM, sort the list by specialty. Oh, and for people who are doing something different in PGY2 from PGY1, just click the button at the top of the page that says "advance to 2009". For more fun, compare where people are going in PGY1 vs. PGY2. For example some EM programs start in PGY2, so while these graduates are listed in EM in PGY2, if you look at them in PGY1 it says something else. Also, if you want to see how many people got categorical surgery vs. preliminary surgery, again, compare the names from PGY1 in 2008 to PGY2 in 2009. Anyone who got prelim surgery only will not be listed as doing surgery in PGY2 of 2009. I know this is pretty convoluted, so good luck. And good luck to all you future applicants!

Thanks for the info. Kernb...I wasn't aware of this feature. I like the list sorted by category.

EM Match

Got first choice in EM: Newark Beth Israel, keeps me local with the wife and new baby, loved the program and the people and I had a great time while auditioning there.

Hi as I was reading through it seems that certain specialty fields are harder to get into than others. I was hoping if someone could tell me why that is and which ones that are like that. Thanks.

lifestyle and money...the better the 1st , the more the 2nd, the more competitive the specialty.

as to which ones...look at the nrmp report on their website..
