Another great year for SGU and its graduates! Congrats to everyone! Keep up the hard work! Amazing matches (ortho, gu, rad-onc) and IM, Peds, Ob, EM, etc at some great places!

There are a number of categorical positions. click on PGY2 and look for the people who matched into PGY1 spots and see if their name appears. If it does it is a categorical position.

Not necessarily true.....there are a few poeple I know that matched into prelim surgery but their names are on both PGY1 and PGY2 lists.

is sgu's residency appointments on their website correct? i have gone to numerous websites that show their programs current residents and failed to identify the same resident that was reported on sgu's website

i know mine is posted correctly!!

but seriously, i'm sure there are some mistakes, but overall are correct.

of course if there were any changes after they left sgu (switched residency, dropped out, etc) the school wouldn't know about it.

According to the "SGU Residency postings of 2009" there are 14 categorical surgery spots (I just figured that every "Surgery" spot that's a PGY-2 is a categorical spot). That's not that bad considering how few cat surgery spots there are. Still, I know very qualified applicants that did not match into cat surgery this year.
