The Belkin model (F9G933-10) that I found stats for has a 125V/15A/60 Hz - continuous duty electrical rating. This will not work on the 220v/50Hz Grenada current. If you can find the specific model number for the ebay item, I can try and find stats for that, but my guess is it's going to be 110v dedicated. If they sell a European version of it, that will probably be compatible with Grenada current. Again, I'll need a model number to confirm.

Not to downplay your enthusiasm for having good surge protection for your electronics, but you can always buy Grenada surge protectors when you get on the island. US -> Gnd plug adapters usually run about $15EC or $5-6US and a 220v surge protector runs about $30EC or $11-12US. However, they aren't name brand (as far as I remember), so if you're looking for that, keep working at it.

The surge protector I use has a 220v-110v and 60Hz-50Hv rating. In all honesty, I'm not sure what kind of protection a surge protector with that rating can really offer. Caveat Emptor, I guess.

I hope this helps.

You've found a dual voltage surge protector.

(Just to recap)
So, the idea is that the American plug can be cut off and replaced with a Grenada style plug for about $6EC or $2-3US from the hardware store. This will then provide several US style plugs with 220v, 50Hz coming out of them.
You can plug in all your 220v-110v, 60Hz-50Hz compatible electronics/appliances directly into the surge protector without the need for buying additional US -> Gnd plug adapters.

As for the appropriateness of the joule rating, I am not qualified to comment. You'll have to do some google/wiki research on that one, then determine the level of risk you are willing to accept.

GL with it. It seems you have the idea.

Do not cut wires to things you want to take back to the US. It's probably not a good idea (or even a "very, very bad idea!") to do it to your $120+US laptop tranformer, trying to save $15EC. Infact, sometimes the plug portion includes the transformer, like on my cellphone (Razr).

However, if you want to cut a US plug off a lamp you don't plan to take back to the states, hack away (so long as a screw-in 220v bulb will fit in its place). If there is a British plug on a 220v coffeemaker or iron you bought, it won't hurt to put a Grenada plug on it.

I cut the wires to this 220-110v, 60-50Hz surge protector from 'Do It Best', and it was a good move. Every outlet on the surge protector will accomidate several plug types, including US/British/Grenada. The protector was $30EC (they all cost this much) and the Grenada plug was $6EC. Moreover, Mario endorsed the protector, and I sleep well knowing he's keeping King Kuppa at bay.

To the OP: In your specific case, I'd imagine you have cool electronics with US plugs. Don't cut those, but rather go with a plug-in converter thingy. Your common sense will guide you well enough.
