If you are competitive, they will take you. I got in for January 2008 and found out I was in on December 15. So even if there is a waitlist-you might not be put on the waitlist cuz apparently last year the January class was full also when I interviewed which was around Novemeber 20.

I didnt know there was a waitlist. I was under the impression that there was still room in the Aug 2008 class. My application was just completed today (everything was received). Any thoughts on my chances for Aug '08?

I have a 3.0 from Boston University (but a 2.63 SGPA) which hurts. I got a 34 on the MCAT and have completed one year of lung cancer research at Vanderbilt. I'm not looking for this year. What about next year? I'm strongly considering doing some coursework at Vanderbilt to boost up the SGPA

what are my chances
I am a non-traditional student who dropped out of hs when I was 15 got my ged, and am now currently enrolled in college at the ripe old age of 29. I am currently studying computer science, but have had a burning desire to enter the medical field since I was a child. My current gpa is 3.9 and I am early enough in my college career to switch to pre-med. I am just wondering if I should bother even attempting to go pre-med, if any med schools will even look at my application, or stay the course with computer science. Any advice on this subject would be much appreciated.

your age will not be taken against you. I had two friends from undergrad who were 33 and 36 when they were admitted to a top 20 US med school. You can continue with your Computer science degree if you like it. But also do the pre-reqs for the medical school and take the mcat. You don't need a Biology degree to get into med school. Keep your gpa up and get a good mcat score. You will have great chance in US med schools in 3-4 years.

Just take 1 year each of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Organic Chem, and English, and a semester of calculus or statistics. And you can still continue with your computer science degree. If you keep up the high GPA and do well on the MCAT, there's no reason you won't get in.
