ok so I am double majoring in biology and history (so far). i have completed all but 5 bio classes and I could get my bio degree in may of 09. my gpa till now (july 19 08) is 2.889. Im taking the mCAT in jan and im expecting around a 26-30. should i go through with the double major (adds an entire year to undergrad) or go ahead and apply to SGU in may ? (i have shadowing experience, research experience, volunteering experience and I work at a hospital for 3 years)

Your verbal score is killing you. Make sure to improve significantly on your 2nd take and you have a decent shot of getting in.
They say verbal score is the best indicator of med school performance so I'm sure your 5 as it stands is questionable. Your GPA is fine, I think, as long as you didn't transfer for academic reasons. |

I just spoke with my admissions advisor...not as encouraging as I hoped.
I understand the final decision is made by the committee....but was wondering what anyone else thought. I am applying for Jan 09...my application was received and is awaiting my letters of rec. overall gpa 3.27 science 3.25 MCAT 22O Lots of volunteering, research, etc. Is there any hope? My fingers are crossed! Thanks so much for your advice. |
