Yep, you'll definitely have the upper hand on the rest of us for Step 1. Best of luck.

hey everyone,

I have a quick question ...is there much of a difference (when it comes to acceptances) between a 3.31, 3.37 and 3.48?

The reason i'm asking is cuz my school uses a 12 point scale, so it includes A-, A, A+ for each letter (D-A)...but the AMCAS scale doesn't account for the minus letters....so when my average is converted..it can range between any three of the gpa's listed above depending on how the minus letters are rounded...for example on AMCAS a B = 70-74 and a B+ = 75-79
in my school a B- =70-72 B= 73-76 B+ = 77-79
so...if i were to get a B (73-76) ...would that be a B on amcas or B+ on amcas?? Do you use the lower end of the scale or higher end???

Use the format that benefits you. For my application, I rounded up the GPA to a single decimal place, which made it look better. No one objected.

Your stats are right about average. Just apply early and you should get in.

Chances for SGU Jan 2009

My transcript gpa reads 3.25 but calculated avg including retakes is 3.0
Science gpa is 2.8

Havent taken the mcat yet but will in sept.
If i take the mcat in sept the results will be mailed in oct... do you think this is too late to apply for jan 09??

Also i have taken all the pre reqs except for organic chem lab which is only 2 credit hours.. is that going to be a problem?

how are my chances? i really only want to go to sgu and no other caribbean school.
thank you
