but why don't you do a master's in science and do well so that you may have a shot at a US school.

Hey guys, I applied to SGU about two weeks ago, and I'm wondering what my chances are at even getting an interview. My undergrad cum is 2.76 (majored in Biology), and my master's so far is a 3.3 (Biomedical Sciences). MCAT is a 25 the first time, 31st the second. Any thoughts would be appreciated; thanks!

P.S. If this post seems familiar, thats because I posted in the wrong thread before, I apologize for that.

In your case it will be very hard to predict. Although they will like that you have increased your gpa from undergrad, the 2.76 is fairly low and carries a lot of weight. On the other hand, your MCAT is excellent and hopefully will be enough to pull the other grades up. Also, hopefully you have a few good e.c.'s to spruce up your application some. Just stick it out, only time can tell......

Which term are you applying for? Term gets more competetive as you get closer to start date.

All the best with your application.

Thanks; I applied for August 2008; the lady said that there were still plenty of seats left, so I'm ahead of the curve as far as applying goes

Will I get in???

I finished my application last week, now only my LORs are left to submit that hopefully would be complete too sometime next week. Let me throw out my stats to see what u guys think:

cGPA: 3.15 (cuz i had 2 Fs) science GPA: 3.4 (AMCAS calculated)
MCAT: 32 (p10, v8, b14) Took it only once, but in 2004.
ECs: hospital, clinics, shadowing, officer in pre-med club, lots of research with 1 publication.

So what are my chances for Aug 2008? Given that classes are filling up and its getting competitive. Thanks.

Talking

I really do not think you have anything to worry about! You have somewhat decent GPAs, excellent MCAT, and alot of experience! I think you definitely have a good chance of getting in if you do well on the interview! I think you have a chance at all of the BIG 3! Good Luck!
