Or maybe they had the foresight to apply early. I was ready to attend Ross and didn't hear back fro SGU until last week. Was I backwards for not rejecting Ross acceptance until a week before orientation? I am just saying that things come up for people that they can't anticipate and have to change their plans.

no need to justify this argazul...you made a difficult and wise choice. One that (although I speak from no experience) I think you will be very happy you made :-)

med school admissions is, in part, a strategy game...and often people have very hard decisions to make. Nobody should be criticizing them for that.

or assuming that applying late is some indication of a lack of foresight. i think it's already been covered that people's situations, plans and priorities change over the course of a year. it cracks me up how quick everyone is to make assumptions about everyone elses situation here. only that individual knows what is best for them when and has to live with their decisions.

I agree, like I said I was accepted straight into Aug '07 w/out being placed on the waitlist about a month after I was told the class was "full" by VMDers and then confirmed with my admissions counselor (this was after my app was complete but about 2-4 weeks before my interview and then I found out I got in 4-6 weeks after that, so roughly 2months or more after the class was "full" I got straight in).

It definitely happens since I wasn't the only one on here last year saying that, and who knows how many others that aren't on the forum.

what are my chances

did you have really good stats then?

I just applied for sep '08 and am wondering what are my chances. I have good stats (3.96, 4.0 sciences, 33 MCAT) but have been hearing that SGU and Ross are full.

something must be up if you can't get into a number of US schools with those stats.

I just realized you were talking to me.

I'm 29 so my undergrad and post-bacc may have been weighed differently, however I had a 3.1 cGPA (no sciences), 3.6 sGPA (post-bacc) 29 MCAT.

I assume he's applying to SGU for the 'Carribbean experience'.

I'm guessing he didn't get to see too much sun while he was racking up those stats, so he's probably trying to make up for it now.
