i wasnt commenting on whether or not she should take an opportunity in the states. i just dont think there is a need for any attitude - i asked why you applied and are not accepting you admittance because i have seen you posting on all the blogs on a daily basis claiming you just want to know if you got in, and how long you have been waiting. so i was confused as to why you would be reluctant to go if the 4-5 months you waited were so ridiculous - as you had stated. if you knew you werent going, which i assume u knew before your acceptance seeing as you said things change over the past few months, and it must have been only a week ago your were upset about still not hearing. why even stress about it if you had no intention of going. students that actually want to go to SGU - maybe bc they dont have the opportunity that you have - are now put behind someone who is not even interested.

sorry, but this rant is uncalled for...obviously you have not read swimchicks post over the last year...she applied to sgu (and rightly so) as a back up to the US schools that she was applying to this last application cycle.

she thought (right or wrong) sgu would let her know in a few weeks...sgu processes through thousands of applications per cycle- while hers seemed to be a longer process than usual, she only found out her acceptance after getting "No"s from her US schools.

and at this point a respoonsible person will think about the options that they have (not jump to whatever place says yes...if that was the case she would be going to ross right now) and make the decision about what is best for HER -while it is nice to think of other people--this is MED SCHOOL- the competition is fierce (even in caribbean schools such as sgu, ross, auc) and you can't let go of opportunities for yourself because you wanna be nice (trust me no one is gonna do that for you...)

and remember what they say about ASSUming...while you will think you will do one thing, when you have the reality in front of you, your decision may be different. While swimchick may have thought oh, i'm not going to go there, she really didn't know that until she had the acceptance to make that decision.

If swimchick (or any other applicant with the same dilemma) were to to take the simpler route- sure going to the 1st school that accepts you would be the easier thing to do, but may not be the best thing for you.

personally? I held onto all 3 caribbean med school acceptances while i waited to hear from the waitlisted schools i had in the US and only let go 2 of them until i decided which was best for me--and if there were people behind me waiting for a spot...well, to be honest, if the school thought they were as good a choice as me, then they wouldn't be waiting....they would have already received a letter of acceptance.

I, like everyone else was happy for you...at first. how do you think that makes everyone else feel when you act like SGU is not good enough for you, when it is giving everyone else the opportunity to succeed in all our hopes and dreams (which are the same as yours so you know how we feel). You fooled everone on the forum into thinking you were dying to go to SGU when all the while you weren't even going to consider acceptance.
so now maybe it's time to leave the SGU forum (since your turning it down) and go to student doctor network while you anguish over your reapplication year to US schools. Apparently, a few people are not too happy about things you are saying and have no relevance to the thread since it is all about getting into US schools. Good Luck to you, I am sure whatever is meant to happen for you will, I beleive in fate and what is meant to be is meant to be. Everyone deserves a second chance and maybe we'll see you next year.
i find it interesting that all the noob haven't stepped foot on the island and haven't seen one day of med school are saying shame on you for not coming to sgu and all the seasoned medical students, 2nd years, 3rd years, 4th yearsand alumni are saying , please, please reapply to US schools and then if it doesn't work, go to sgu.....hmmm, if i was a prospective, who would i listen to...

Uh oh, Rok's hard-fought for thread is degenerating...

and for the record, yeah Swimchick's got to do what she's got to do. Besides with an MCAT above 30 she's got a good shot in the US.
