Nope.. in fact, I may not even have done it if I'd got into a US med school on my first try. Like I said, I did consider it useless, but I now realize I was wrong. There is a benefit to taking the MPH program that you don't realize until you actually take it.
But hey, just because you guys didn't take MPH doesn't mean you're inferior than me or that you will turn out to be inferior physicians. If any of my statements have implied that, I regret it - that was not my intention. Let me just speak for myself - I will be better off being an MD/MPH than if I was an MD alone, and this I know. |

just wondering what my chances are of transferring out of sgu after 2 years. i have a 3.5 gpa and 33 mcat.
also, my friend earned a 27 mcat and 3.3 gpa...what are his chances?

it will depend upon how you do in your basic sciences. usmle often doesnt matter as often the decision is made before then (but you do have to pass for the condition of acceptance). Often the folks most sucessful have previously come close to getting in in the us (ie waitlisted or several interviews). But its caprecious. I know of outstanding candidates who weren't able to for unexplained reasons. So your odds of getting in in the us are far higher than your friend, so your transfer chances are probably better, Med school issues being equal.

high maintenance in terms of some medical issues I have....they're the main reason I don't want to leave the US. I think I want to be an endocrinologist or oncologist. Now....back to the thread topic!! :-)

arg...what you described sounds like applying to US schools as a premed, and i have little desire to go through that crap shoot again. i guess i have to decide if i want to bust my *** off to earn straight A's, or get B's and have much more fun.
thanks steph, and early congrats on getting your 10,000th post! bout 300 to go.... Quote:

SGU's entrance stats are higher than AUC as SGU has the best rep in the Caribbean, they are more competitive. Here's a link to their site Medical Sciences Student Statisitcs - School of Medicine - St. George’s University
