Hi all! Here's my stats: 24Q on my MCAT (I know, I know ...) and 3.5 overall GPA, 3.3 Science GPA. Any chances at SGU? Any other Caribbean schools you would recommend applying to?

Going by the avg. stats, your GPA is around the average (a little above) and your MCAT is a little below. If you can retake the MCAT and get 3-6 point improvement, I think you're chances are much better.

Auc, Saba and Ross are the other 3 Carib schools that let you immediately train/practice immediately following graduation/residency.

Yeah GPA's close to avg and MCAT's a little low so you've got a shot. Ideally you'll have some EC's, research, glowing LOR's to bring to the table.

Good luck.

What is your average in terms of GPA, as listed by AMCAS, as GPA is the more standard way to list?

You got a perfect T in the essays eh? That is pretty good. What was your clinical exp...volunteering, work, clin. research? I think you have a good chance of getting in and you should apply.

Shwinster
GPA cumulative probably revolves around 3.8-3.9
GPA science between 3.7-3.8
I worked for two years as a junior hospital volunteer, one year as a senior volunteer, and one year with St. Beyond that, I have volunteered with with the armed forces in a non-medical capacity, obtained my jump wings, and my pilots wings, various qualifications and awards with the forces.
Then, there is the standard list of charitable and community service works.
WhoKares, thanks for your vote of confidence, I'll drop of my app soon.

O Fortuna! My turn at the wheel. Utilizing USPS Express, I sent my application documents on Tuesday, April 8th and they procured the package the next day on Wednesday, April 9th. I initiated a phone call on Friday morning and they told me that it is currently under review.

Alas, my stats:
B.A. History & B.S. Kinesiology
EMT-I (St License & NREMT Cert.) - testing for EMT-P/NREMT-P credentials this Aug.; previous PBT (ASCP). I have a plethora of clinical experience (PALS, ACLS, ITLS/BTLS, CPR, BLS Instructor), but no research.... G.P.A. = 2.73

MCATs (most recent 1st): 28S (13V, 6PS, 9BS); 28S (13V, 5PS, 10**); 23R (12V, 4PS, 7BS)
I hate, hate, hate physics - calculus based, algebra based, it all bites.... big-time.

Granted, I understand that it is a matter of the quantity of applicants and sheer size of the applicant pool that come from the "top previous institutions" list ... (my alma mater is on that list - think BigXII). Are my chances better b/c of it, or am I hindered by it?
