Post "What are My Chances?" Here ONLY

I am very interested in attending St. George.
I do not have a B.S. degree but have 206 units of college units.
I have earned Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree and a licensed pharmacist in the state of michigan.
    My stats are as follows:
    Pre-requisite GPA: 3.25
    Pharmacy GPA: 3.03
    Math/Science GPA: 3.25
Been in Active Duty for a few years and served as the Assistant chief, Department of pharmacy for a Military facility.
I have not taken the MCAT due duty but will do so ASAP once back in the States. Officer in Charge for Inpatient pharmacy for 2 years and Served as the Recorder and Coordinator of Medication Use Evaluation Committee for the Hospital.
Well, that is some of my stats and info.
Anyone willing to comment on my chances of admission at SGU is welcomed (Positive or Negative)
    Thanks,

Anyway, good luck on your application process. Hope to see some of you this August!!
SGU definitely knows that I'm interested. I feel like my admissions counselor is probably fed up with my weekly e-mail but it's essential that I know within the next week whether I was accepted or not since I only have a week left to put a deposit down for a seat elsewhere. Does anyone know how often the committee "meets"? Not knowing where I'm going or what I'm doing is driving me crazy lol.

I did my Master's because I wanted to eventually get published before I applied for residency. I also didn't have anything to do in the year I had "off" after graduating from undergrad. So, I figured why not? Wouldn't hurt.

I can imagine how difficult it is to wait. I waited for a long time after I applied to American schools and didn't hear anything back from them for a long time. It's really frustrating. It sounds to me like the committee meets every other week if not every week. During any given week there has to be at least one kind of committee that meets since there must me more than one to review all the applicants... Have you called and asked about how frequent they meet?

Hey, we've talked before but I would ideally like the 2nd option you mentioned with MD/MPH dual degree program but am willing to do MPH first and then MD if I don't get in. My MCAT is 31. Also, would you recommend the foundations option or the MPH option since I mentioned that I have been getting C+ in my recent Bio classes and As and ** in my physical science (Chemistry, Math, Atmospheric Science) classes.MPH is a great degree but I would love the assurance of getting in to SGU med after completing it but Foundations also has it's own assurance and actually prepares for med school.

if i recall you haven't completed all your pre-reqs, right? sgu does have a post bac program that allows a person to complete those and if they maintain something like a 3.5 and do well on the internal exam they get a spot in the MD program...the MPH to MD program and the foundations programs are usually for someone who has completed their pre-reqs.

i usually advise students to do their pre-reqs in the US in a US post bac program that give them a chance to get into a US school 1st...if they do get into a US school, then yay! and if not sgu will be here in 1-2 yrs and doing well in the post bac program will only strengthen their application...

good for you for doing more research on options out there...sgu does have a number of ways to get into and through the MD program.

Yes, I have to take Orgo 2 and Gen Chem 2 but I am going into my senior year of college so I will finish these as well as Cell Bio and some other bio/chem.phys classes here.
I don't think I have a chance in US med schools (MD or DO) although doing post bac here is something I am considering because I wanted to apply for the Spring term and do research/postbac in between the fall after I graduate and the time I hopefully attend a Med School.
Isn't the SGU postbac program you're talking about and the Charter Foundation Program the same thing? I did a little research and the requirements for the CFP are the same as the postbac program you're talking about unless there is a distinction between the two.

now i remember...crappy gpa, but promising MCAT...i think i told you that you are the type of student a post bac was made for...need to prove you can handle the coursework of med school but have the competitive MCAT score...

both are newish programs (they didn't exist when i was done there) but if i remember correctly, the foundations program is one term, and the post bac is a full yr...i want to say the foundations is med school classes and the post bac is pre requisite classes (someone correct me if i have that wrong)...have to maintain a certain gpa (3.5) and guarantee to progress to 1st term MD class.

I have not asked seeing as I follow-up with my counselor every week via e-mail lol. I don't want to bother her too much!

Well the next time you do e-mail her I'd definitely ask =). It's her job! I'm sure she's not bothered by it at all.
