1. I am not familiar with the voltage issue. Would most US electronics (battery recharger, hair dryer, Ipod recharger, laptop) work in the SGU dorms? Or do we need to bring something? Some of my electronics have 120-240 V written on their back.
2. Are there anything else we need to bring for installing internet/cable onto our laptops? Do we need to bring any cords (cable, wires)? Or would we be able to get connected as soon as we take out our laptop in the dorms? Thank you! |

if you are in superdorms you won't need any transformer as the room has the american style plug outlet. you do need to bring your own standard ethernet cable to get Internet in room. the wifi won't penetrate the concrete wall to get you online. you also will need to dl a program from the IT to make sure you an anti viral software and up to date ok stuff before they will authorize your computer. don't worry about the dl it will be a prompt and self explanatory when you first connect

In the superdorms, where most first termers stay, there are two "american" outlets underneath your desk. I just hooked in a surge protector with a lot of extra outlets on it. elsewhere in the room all of the outlets are 240. For the other outlets I wouldn't plug in anything that isn't compatible with 240, it's a different plug anyways.
All you need to connect in the dorms is an ethernet cord. If you don't bring one there is a computer store by IGA at Grand Anse in the Round Houses. The cords were really affordable.
