[quote=Kongakut;819412]It doesn't mean full. Why would they still be interviewing and why would the deadline be June 15th?quote]
uhm..true I don't know...perhaps for the GSP program if not the Grenada one? I guess with rolling admissions, its kind of hard to predict how exactly the admissions process works. |

By full, they probably mean the limit for the number of admission offers has been reached, but not necessarily the number of seats filled. Some students may choose not to accept the offer, or may hold a seat now and reject it a few months later, if their plans change or they get into a US school.
For instance, the class was declared 'full' even when I had an offer but hadn't accepted it yet (I sat on it for 6 weeks) so technically, it wasn't full. If I had decided not to accept the offer, the class would be 'unfull' again. |

I'm curious, did you hear that from an admissions counselor or is it a guess? I'd be surprised if they did it that way.

Admissions counsellor....but perhaps this is people on the priority waitlist. I don't know if there is any other type of waitlist however.

Definitely don't listen to this, "the class is full stuff." This is code for, "your scores and interview didn't go so hot so we are going to save your spot for someone with better stats." I can tell you from personal experience (from last semester) that you can get in long after people are posting the class is full. An important thing to do is to FAX SGU OTHER ACCEPTANCE LETTERS (from other med schools). This helps out a lot. Also, if you are contemplating SGU vs. other schools, pick SGU. I wasn't so sure about a med school in Grenada (as opposed to the US) at first, and never had the opportunity to come down and check the place out before school started, but I was pleasantly surprised at the school and the level of education. I love this place. I don't know anyone who doesn't love the place. You all striving for SGU are headed to the right place. Yes, it's expensive. But if it helps you get the residency you want it will pay of in millions in due time, not to mention the happiness of practicing in the field you want. For those of you that are accepted, buy a Rohen's anatomy atlas before coming down. The midterm and finals have a virtual section (worth ~15% of your grade) and the images come directly from Rohen's. It isn't mandatory as students label slides and will make them available to you online but it is the best atlas with REAL pictures of the human body and will definitely help...you can only get so far in understanding with cartoon drawings (although they are best to get introduced to the anatomy with). If anyone has any questions about the acceptance process or life at SGU send me a PM or reply to this post and I will make myself available for the next week or so. Our semester just ended and we are on our way out of Grenada and again have time to do stuff like this in the first time in months so take advantage of me or other students who find themselves with little to do over the summer.
Good luck, dfrsh |

Waitlist and GSP
Don't be surprised if you hear this, this is definitely the way it is. You really expect to have a guy with a 30+ on their MCAT and a 3.5+ GPA to be turned down for someone with far inferior stats just cause they were quicker turning in their application??? This is the real world, the smarter (or at least more attractive) candidates are selected first. Forget about fairness, that's why people are getting put on the waitlist, to make room for others with better stats to come and snake their spots. But if you don't have that great of stats it's not all over for you, they accept a burst at the last second to make sure the ranks are full. I would be hesitant to attempt the GSP. Make sure you realize the licensing restrictions (which SGU does everything but lie about) before diving into New Castle. I wouldn't want to be 250K in debt just to realize that some jump-off program I was in messed me up in the end. (This is just my opinion about GSP though, it might all go fine...but they are very strict in handing out MD licenses in the states and without CA approval you are one leg down on the competition)
