I definitely believe that many of the FOM students do better in 1st term MD; however, I have no desire to take additional courses not related to clinical medicine. It's frustrating to me that my 12 on verbal won't get me out of taking an FOM course on English skills and college level writing? I believe the FOM program is a great path to take given certain circumstances. Personally, I don't feel that I am right for the program and would not benefit from it as much as others...
I thought my MCAT would my gpa freshman-sophomore year enough to show my poor grades were more an issue of responsibility/immaturity than capability. I attended a very very small percentage of my classes in the first 3 years of quarter system college - if only SGU had some sort of attendance record, it might have worked to my advantage I will try giving the office a call on Monday - I'll keep you guys posted! |

If you choose FOM at SGU, that means you will be delayed one year on the match. am i correct on this? Either way, i would choose AUC. I was about to apply to AUC and still may be for the May class. It gives you more time for a lot of things, whereas starting in aug for SGU would not. Either way, you will be an MD, but from AUC, you will owe less and practice sooner... i think. How does the FOM work? Do you start Feb and then enter in Aug 08 class? |

Phospho,
Yes I believe it would put me back to 2013....I would start FOM in August and then enter the MD program with the Jan 09 class.... You take several classes with the pre-med's and then take some sort of test at the end to qualify for MD program. My acceptance package is in the mail so I will give further details when I get it. I do think I'm going to send the rest of my forms into AUC though I live in CA and work with several AUC doc's... they initially turned my attention to the carib but it was through my own research that I discovered SGU and applied to them a bit later. I like the recent news of SGU setting up long term contracts with clinical sites and if I were to hear the same news regarding AUC it would be an easy decision for me to choose AUC. I want to do further research to ensure other carib schools won't have clinical problems similar to Ross's 4 years from now. |

Hi all, I wanted to ask your advice on what to do in my situation. I submitted my application to SGU SOM in September 2007. I was contacted by an adviser who said she would take care of my application. On November 13th, 2007 I was notified by email that I'll be contacted for an interview. December 13th rolled around, I didn't hear from anyone so I contacted my adviser asking if she knew what's up. She told me,
