Actually, that's what happened with me too. My counselor was responding to me within 24 hours every time I contacted her up until the last weekend in March. I've heard nothing from her for the past ~two weeks even though I've tried contacting her. I think all of the counselors are a bit swamped now; I doubt we're the only ones waiting in this situation.

Another March 19th interviewee here waiting for a decision. Does anyone know how effective notifying advisors of acceptances at other schools actually is at speeding up the process. It's been a week since I notified mine and only one week left til money is due.
Any imput on how best to ask for an extension on deposits? I'm guessing "I'm holding out for SGU," isn't going to fly over so well... |

just tell them you still have some things to work out and you would appreciate it if they could give you a little more time to get them the deposit. let sgu know you have an impending deadlline at another school and that as much as sgu is where you want to go, you don't want to let the chance to go to med school slip through your fingers...never know....i've heard it helps!

Hey guys, I just had my interview today in Chicago. I think it went well but we'll see. I was just wondering, however, how many seats are left open at this point for the august 2008 class. Earlier posts seem to indicate that people have applied and been getting in since december 07/january 08 and I feel like I'm late in the game here. Thanks anyway.

Timeline
Hey guys,
I was just accepted to SGU for the vet school last Friday, but I wanted to give you guys my timeline to help ease some nerves. I applied last October, interviewed in December, and had not heard a thing through March. After waiting over 6 months I was an absolute basket case and sent my admissions counselor a friendly (bur urgent) e-mail that I will be graduating from my Masters program in a few weeks and had job offers that were under contract. I e-mailed a request to the Board to expidite my application and got an acceptance 5 days later. I know that vet medicine involves a different set of people, but please don't panic if it takes several months. Just keep in contact with your admissions counselor and hopefully everything will work out well for you. Best of luck! |

Hi,
For those of us who are waiting to hear the final decision after interviews...I was just wondering our applications made the cut to be granted an interview and if our interviewers said we'll recommend you to the adcom and that your stats were good....isn't it safe to assume we'll be in if seats are available? I asked my counselor about the seats, she said they don't have a waitlist yet and doesn't see one being started until early June. Since its rolling admissions, I would think those of us who had a good interview should be in on first come first serve basis until all the seats are taken....unless the essay we write during the interview is a huge part of the application...am i right to assume this or should I apply to another school as a back up in case? |
