You know if you think about it 2 months is not really that long and is a pretty good turn around time for rolling admissions. Nevertheless, you are correct that the waiting period does do a number on one's nerves.
I'm really surprised at some of these time periods. I was accepted after interview in literally 3 days. Did I get lucky or something?

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the forum. I just received an email letter from the Admissions Committee informing me that I will be granted an interview. However, in the letter they mention that I will be interviewed for the School of Medicine but will also be considered for the MPH program. I was wondering if anyone knows if this is a formality that they offer to all interviewees, or if this is just if you are a borderline applicant? Please let me know if those that have interviewed received a similar letter regarding the possibility of MPH. Thanks!

No offense or anything, but this sounds a little stuck up. I don't think you should rub this in.

Getting a response soon tells little about the quality of the applicant - it could be that admissions were just not busy that week - I'm just saying. So to those that are waiting, just hang in there, it is rare to get an acceptance in three days so don't be disheartened.

No you have me completely wrong. I'm not being stuck up at all! But I'm just wondering why my response was so fast... thats why I asked if I was lucky or something. I read on the forums that people might be waiting for months and full expected this but that is not how it happened. I even emailed the person who interviewed me and she said she was surprised someone gained admission so quickly.

I think your right. Basically they probably weren't very busy at the time and I just slid in at the right time. Again I am absolutely not trying to be 'stuck up' or brag or anything at all. To those that are waiting I think my result was basically a fluke. Especially since I'm a Canadian applicant and maybe they have a seperate team that assesses Canadian students. Definitely hang in there, I'm sure you will all do well!

I'm so confused right about now. My admissions counselor told me that the reason why I haven't received any word yet on an acceptance is because the admissions committee has not met since my interview (March 19th). I asked her why all the Canadian students seem to be receiving their acceptances so soon, and she said that their files are handled separately from those in the U.S. That was fair enough.. until I saw that many of the people that interviewed on March 29th in the U.S. have already received acceptaces. This means that the admissions committee must have met since my interview. I emailed four other people that also interviewed on the 19th and they have received no word either. I called my admissions counselor about this and she told me that the admissions committee still hasn't met since the March 19th interview, and that these student's interviewers probably turned in their applications early. This did not make sense though, because if the others who interviewed on the 29th received acceptances, and those that interviewed on the 19th haven't received acceptances, regardless of when the March 19th interviewers submitted their applications, this means that the admissions committee DID meet since March 19th..

Can anyone tell me what's going on??

It is impossible to tell what is going on with admissions, it almost seems totally random. Don't worry about it just relax and wait. If I remember correctly you have insane stats, you shouldn't have a problem getting in, it has not even been a month since your interview.

in all honesty, no, i don't think anyone can give you an answer.

the thing is, is that you are looking for some rhyme or reason on why things happen the way they do. Just as in US applications (and you will eventually learn, in residency applications) there is alot of randomness associated with the process.

just keep contacting your admissions counselor, be polite, but ask for updates. If you have an acceptance somewhere else, let her know and be patient (it is a talent you will have to develop in dealing with the school and the island).
