you are correct in that if you start either Jan or Aug 09, then yes you will be in the same match (2013)- just didn't want you to think you were getting out a year earlier.

Thanks for your response. I feel the same way about apply to US schools! I was filling out all 2ndaries until I got my MCATS back. I know I have a good GPA, plus my post bacc is 4.0, but my family is pushing. I'm 26 (going on 27 in a few days) and they didn't initially accept the idea of me returning to school to begin with. So the battle is appeasing the fam. I SUCK at standardized tests- did Berkley review and it NOTHING but stress me out (hence 23P). Any other at-home study suggestions anyone can recommend for MCAT (prob wrong thread)? Who knows- if they suggest the MOP tomorrow- thats a def NO- and they have made my decision that much easier.... |

Thanks for the good words- thats my concern, as well. I don't want to go into their FOM program (I could do that at home)- and if I was to take my MCAT again I would prob do so before the summer- just so I know my chances before primary US apps have to go out again. You said you are going to take it again for Jan 09 admit... are you kissing US schools goodbye? |

And if anyone is interested...I have my books and study materials and am retaking the MCAT. I'm shooting for an improvement on my 31R to bring it up to a 35-40. And I'm about to start plenty of volunteer work and get my EMT. If anyone is interested maybe I'll keep a blog or put a study guide up of how I do it or something....if I manage to do it....This isn't going to be easy. But I'm more than willing to offer advice on how to get that score up!
I was considering Ross or AUC even after my last rant because I could possibly finish two years earlier....but even AUC might be having a clinical meltdown soon. And as far as reapplying for SGU...well with how much SGU is increasing their class size it COULD happen there too..unlikekly but it could happen. |

i woudnt count on retaking it and expecting 35-40. You have just as much chance of going down as you do going up. Anything above around a 31, luck starts coming into factor and for you to score in the 35-40 range, there is luck involved. I wouldnt retake your MCAT, as the chances of you going down is pretty great, AAMC: MCAT: Applicants/Matriculants and Retesters Data Tables here is retesters data from AAMC. Keep in mind most people on these charts are retaking it from poor score, probably 7 or lower on the sections. |
