so a question - getting accepted to gsp is a step down from grenada? my interviewer stated they were accepting the best and brightest out there so it would be a compliment to get accepted.......anyone know anything about this?

a step down not in terms of academics but probably in licensing issues. so far gsp has not been offically approved in NJ and CA

The reason people think it is "a step down" is that SGU sorta rushed into it without getting all of their ducks in a row. As of right now, there are some licensing issues, with CA and a few other states. Theoretically, there is no difference in the quality of education. I personally turned down the offer because I am not sure where I am going to practice one day and do not want to worry about the issues that come along with it.

....Jay beat me to it

Hi Everyone! I'm new to this forum. Just wanted to know if anyone knew anything about the MD/MPH program at SGU? Is it worth doing? I got accepted into it for the August 2008 class but I've heard mixed opinions on pursuing the MPH portion. Any thoughts?

It's official...it's been more than 3 months since my interview and still no word. I called on Monday and have yet to receive a call back. I'm pretty dissapointed in their turn-around time. Especially when their explanation was "there's no rhyme or reason to it."

I'm sorry SwimChic. It's pretty ridiculous! I wonder if they delayed mine since they think I have a good shot at US schools (they asked me during my interview how many I applied to and wrote it down) and will decline?
At this point I'm really starting to think re-applying might be a better route.
Here's the prob....
Grenada is taking in 300 more students a year. This *could* translate into rotation problems..though SGU is to be applauded for the steps they're taking.
Caribbean schools are popping up all over the place so there are more grads coming out. 3 or 4 new osteopathic schools are opening in Aug 08...
And the number of residency slots is not increasing.
That really makes me worried about securing a residency when I graduate.
Edit: I take that back. Securing a residency would not be a problem but what type of residency do I want? I don't want to do PC or FP or Peds as of the moment b/c of what's going on with medicine....
Think of it...you're residency sets you up for the next 40-50 years of your life...so what is another year?
I'm so confused...
