So, who's going to sgu for sure in aug?

I was accepted into the FOM for SGU---and I'm also accepted into ROSS for the May semester.... please anybody what would you do in my situation it's a lot of money to make the wrong decision....

with the ross clinical situations, altho they seem to be trying to add more spots,
i would still avoid ross still until the whole clinical situations is really fixed and stable for a few yrs

also another thing i dont like about ross is god forbids, you failed one class, you have to repeat the whole semester and the grades you get with the repeats will bethe final grade. so even if you have an A on one of the "passed" class, and get a B on the repeat semester, you are stuck w/ the B

I am 99% sure I will be there, the only way I wound not is if I got off a waitlist. I am not counting on it though and am already getting prepared.

I had a friend who was in the same position as you last year. She decided to go to Ross and did not pass a couple of her first semester classes. They became more stringent and she had to withdraw. I would recommend the FOM program. It would be much more expensive to start medical and have to withdraw. It would also be extremely difficult to get into another medical school. The FOM program is great and if you succeed in that, then you will have an advantage. Good luck!

Thanks so much for your input- I am so nervous about this final decision.... it's a back and fourth battle . . .. it's very difficult not knowing what decision to make! last thing I want to do is ruin my future and make the wrong one

It's a tough decision and you have a lot of information to evaluate. If I were in your position...I'd prob go with SGU's offer. Yes...it's more expensive and you'll start the MD program next year (I think) but...you'll have a great foundation from FOM and you won't have to deal with the clinical garbage that Ross students are dealing with. Yes...Ross is adding more spots, but not many...and how long will they be able to keep them? Ross may stabilize the situation before you make it to that point...or it may not.

Med school is expensive and a huge time investment and you've worked too hard to get here only to potentially have it all go downhill because your clinical schedule was messed up.
