Jaywalk81 got it right. C=cumulative and S= science as calculated by AMCAS. I applied to Ross and AUC as well. I applied to 16 Med schools in the States and know to GOD not one will even look at my file twice and others have started sending me the rejecting letters. I've an in-built mechanism to dealing with situation like this, being that on a realistic note a score of 39Q would probably still not got me in schools like Emory, Mayo, Havard etc because of my gpa. If AUC turn me down I'll be disappointed since I'm qualified averagely(wise) to their posted stats, 3.1 and 21, remember average. I do see many people are accepted on the fact that they have better stats than posted on the web. Let see What God will do.

grayeyes043, I have not gotten an interview yet but my advisor said my documents have been forwarded to admission committee and it usually take 2wks, give or take to get an answer. Can someone help me with some answers please? I filed for BANKRUPTCY last year due to my tenants inability to pay their rent on my other properties......but I still have one house which I live in and call HOME. What are my chances of getting loans to attend any of the Carib-three? (SGU, Ross and AUC).Where do the loans come from? Are they govt or private loans or mixture of the two? I need some answers carib medstudents, please?

Hey all, I am also applying for August 2008. I completed my application around the end of September, got an interview a couple weeks after, and I just completed my interview on Oct 20. I am waiting anxiously because I feel SGU is a really good fit for me.

I just want to get the interview over with with SGU and hopefully an acceptance soon after so I dont have to worry if I'm going to med school next yr or not. After that stepping stone, then maybe pray for US schools, but if not, it wouldnt be the end of the world. Just out of curiosity, what do you guys think about new DO schools opening and increase in med school students in US allopathic schools. How will residency placements for the class of 2012 from SGU be affected? Do you guys think from now on, FMG will be placed in less and less competitive fields? thanks |

I think there will be alot of residency placements for the big 4 Caribbean schools. Especially for SGU with the new NYC deal. I was thinking about applying to D.O but honestly I would give up getting a residency a little bit easier (maybe) for the MD degree, nothing against DO of course. I know many would argue but I think residency placement for SGU will be similar/comparable to the bottom of the U.S. schools such as schools in Puerto Rico, Howard etc. and bottom 3/4 of DO schools

Phospholipid, I think the increase in students at all med schools (DO,MD, Carrib) is natural and due to a large demand in new doctors to care for the aging baby boomer generation as well as a larger amount of students applying to med school in general. I am grateful that there is more and more openings because if not all schools would just have to get even more competitive and reliant on STATs
