Are there any current GSPers who are willing to enlighten the forum with regard to cell phones, approximate costs, & service providers? thanks

I would also like to know. I am thinking I should get an unlocked phone here (less expensive) and then just get some plan over there for a year. Does anyone know if the phones in the UK are more pricey?

according to cbc, its actually cheaper for a cell phone and whatnot in UK than Canada, probably cause there is more competition
CBC News Interactive: The price of staying connected

also, just for the people not aware there is a facebook group for the class...

Don't worry about the cell phone before you get here.
Most people have "Mobile World" which is no contract.. pay as u go.

If u have a good unlocked phone bring it. But make sure you get a new 220 charger.. and not burn out your 110 charger.

Starting August or September for the Jan 2008 class we can look for other places in the city. There are a few links posted on some of the threads already. I was looking at this one: Student rental agents in Newcastle upon Tyne with student accommodation to rent.

apparently they are all within walking distance to NUU. I figure once I get there and find a few hours in my week I will check some of them out for the next term. Hope this helps.
anyone looking for off-campus housing? I contacted one of the rental agents from that link, but they said most, if not all, the properties are from fall to fall. Nothing available from Jan to Dec.

Those of us on the welcome week committee will be finding a way to address everything so that you know how to prepare for your trip to the UK.

A question for anyone already in the GSP program. Does the school provide us with Microsoft Office software?
