Hey everyone, did anyone apply for a residency program in Canada? If so, was the process any different than US? What did you use to increase your chances of getting in? Let me know! thanks.

For those that interviewed, was research a big deal when you where interviewing for the more competitive residencies? If so is it wise to take a semester of to do research in field of residency that you are aspiring for in order to improve your chances to land on in what is looking like a progressively increasing competition for competitive residency matches.

i would say so. research definitely helps. you need something that separates you from other ppl. research also shows you have interest in the specialty. PDs like that. also it gives you something to talk about during interviews. i wouldnt necessarily take time off, but is there something you can start down in GNd or at the hospital you rotate at? it doesn't' ahve to be published.
