    Hotel Recommendations for Visiting Relatives.

In having sifted through the first 11-odd pages of the discussion forum, I've seen 1 thread dedicated in part to this question. I'm singularly seeking here recommendations on hotels that are (1) close to campus or easily accessible by bus/taxi from campus and (2) likely to provide aforesaid relatives with a comfortable island experience.

    Thanks in advance.

    Thumbs up Rex Resort

When my parents and I came down for the first time we all stayed at the Rex. It's a nice hotel but it's off the SGU bus route so you would need to take a local taxi to get to campus. That's not that big of a deal though.

As far as the island experience goes. The staff were all really helpful letting my parents know what to do and what to see on the island. They even recommended people to call for tours and what not so it was easy to set things up.

Also, if you're just starting, the school offers a bunch of tours of the island (for free ) and your parents could always hop on one of those.

true blue resort, and grand beach hotel are pretty nice and reasonably priced. if you're looking for something more expensive and really nice the Spice Isle or La Luna are really nice.

I just recently got back from Grenada on a visit to the campus. I stayed at the Grand Beach and for the overall price per night....it really was not bad.

Is grand beach on the bus route? When do the buses start running? Do students have to pay to ride the buses?

    Thanks

no, you would have to walk to the main road, but there is a bus that goes to LAE

there used to be buses to grand beach, but i think that was only while the students were living there- there are some buses that go up to the star mart, but they are few and far between- but the walk to the GA campus isn't more than 5 minutes.

The school buses are free for students to ride. The public bus costs you 2ec (~$0.75) per trip. I'm pretty sure the school buses run from 7am to 2am and the bus schedules are posted at the upper bus stop and on Angel.

The Calabash will get you a cab, you just have to let them know a few minutes ahead of time. They have 2 or 3 cabs that they use constantly. The drivers are really nice and one of them worked at SGU for like 20 years or something.

    Coyaba all the way.
Located right next to the Grand Anse Campus, right on the beach.
Good food, friendly staff, reasonable dinners.
